Taryn Lee is an artist, art historian, and educator based on Tongva land who is committed to creating transformative artistic encounters. Lee’s interdisciplinary practice explores how memories, emotions, and cultural histories become embedded within bodies, objects, and materials. Working primarily across performance, video, installation, and social practice, she investigates the relationships between sensation, consumption, care, and belonging.
Drawing from research in East Asian performance histories, pyschology, and ecological thought, Lee examines how everyday materials carry traces of personal and collective experience. Her work often engages tensions between intimacy and distance, nourishment and danger, preservation and waste, inviting audiences to reconsider their relationships to the objects and systems that shape daily life.
